Vaginitis and Home Testing

Q&A on vaginitis

Q: I think I have a vaginal infection. How can I tell if it is a yeast or bacterial infection?

A: Women of reproductive age normally have a vaginal pH of 3.8 to 4.5 which can keep infections at bay. If you are experiencing burning, itching, and discomfort and your vaginal pH is 4.5 to 5 it may be a yeast infection. If the pH is 5 and greater then you may have a bacterial infection. Feminine pH by Aeryon contains pH testing strips to measure vaginal pH. If you suspect you have a yeast infection, Up And Away by Aeryon are Boric Acid suppositories designed to lower the pH to help relieve symptoms.
