Q: I hear contradicting views about calcium supplements. Can you give me your opinion?
Dr. Henry Cheng: Microcrystalline hydroxyapatite concentrate (MCHC) is my choice. Being in the form of microcrystals, it is well absorbed. It is made from bones of cattle specially raised in controlled pasture that is free from contaminants and spraying. The raw material is refined to be certified absolutely free of heavy metals and poisonous substances. Being from an actual bone source, it has all the trace minerals that are required to form healthy and resilient bone. The manufacturer, Metagenics specializes in high end products that are sold only through naturopathic doctors and pharmacists who are experienced in natural health.
Henry Cheng is a medical graduate of the University of London, England and is now Natural Products Consultant at Pharmasave Health Centre Downtown Cloverdale.
